Tom
Videography ManagerWhat were you doing before Dexters and how did you join us?
Before Dexters, I was working as a drama teacher in a primary school, and freelancing as a graphic designer and wedding photographer. I was referred to LEA by a friend who knew that I wanted a change in career to use more of my creative skills.
What is your favourite thing about your role?
My favourite thing about my role is the creative freedom I have to create something bespoke for each property. I take real pride in telling a unique story for every home and showcasing as many features as I can.
What advice would you give to somebody looking to get into the industry?
My advice for a new starter would be to get comfortable with learning from more experienced team members, practice, trial and error and find your own route. Most importantly, enjoy your craft.
What makes Dexters different?
Dexters is different because they invest back into the business, give internal promotions and genuinely want what’s best for their team. Good morale within the team breeds great work.
Where did you start and where are you now?
I joined the team as an Editor back when our department had around 15 people in total. Now the team has expanded to over 85, I’ve really enjoyed being part of this growth and seeing team members progress within the company too.
Where is your favourite place in London?
My favourite place in London changes so often that I can’t possibly choose. I love Docklands for the history. I love the West End for Theatreland. I love the backstreets in Streatham for the beautiful architecture. I feel fortunate that I get to see the best that Dexters has to offer, and I get to see some beautiful locations along with it.
Have you done any qualifications with us?
Over the years with Dexters, I have qualified as a Domestic Energy Assessor through Elmhurst Energy, and I am currently studying to become a qualified drone pilot.
